The Hong Kong Jockey Club
Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, which comprises of racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. Through this model, the Club generates economic and social value for the community. The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust (“the Trust”) works with the government, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and community partners to actively identify the most pressing social needs and implement initiatives to address them. Together we collaborate to foster a caring and inclusive community.
JC STEM Initiatives
The Trust’s STEM initiatives seek to nurture talent, accelerate the translation of research and foster an enabling ecosystem in which transformative ideas can take root and flourish. By investing in people and partnerships, the Trust aims to advance impactful innovation and contribute to the betterment and long-term development of Hong Kong.
JC STEM Early Career Research Fellowship for Translation and Application
The Fellowship nurtures exceptional early-career researchers who aspire to translate bold ideas into real-world applications. Delivered in partnership with the Research Grants Council of Hong Kong, it provides comprehensive funding, capacity-building and professional development opportunities, as well as exposure to industry, international academic exchange and Hong Kong’s innovation and technology ecosystem. Through this support, Fellows can advance scientific discovery, strengthen their translational capabilities and develop transformative solutions that create positive impact for society.
JC STEM Lab
JC STEM Lab strengthens Hong Kong’s innovation pipeline by providing targeted funding to establish state-of-the-art laboratories for awardees of the HKSAR Government’s Global STEM Professorship Scheme. By supporting leading researchers and their teams, the initiative helps build a dynamic talent pool with the potential to advance scientific discovery and drive innovation in Hong Kong. It also promotes the translation of STEM research into practical solutions that address community needs and create positive social impact.
JC STEM Circle
JC STEM Circle brings together Fellows, Lab Directors and researchers from across the Trust’s STEM initiatives. By connecting academia and industry, it promotes cross-sector exchange and collaboration, recognises achievement, and cultivates a growing community committed to scientific excellence, research translation and positive social impact.
