Overview

The Fellowship nurtures exceptional early-career researchers who aspire to translate bold ideas into real-world applications. Delivered in partnership with the Research Grants Council of Hong Kong, it provides comprehensive funding, capacity-building and professional development opportunities, as well as exposure to industry, international academic exchange and Hong Kong’s innovation and technology ecosystem. Through this support, Fellows can advance scientific discovery, strengthen their translational capabilities and develop transformative solutions that create positive impact for society.

Details of the Fellowship

Up to 10 Fellowships will be awarded in each cohort. Each Fellowship spans three years and provides the following support:
 

a.    Stipend for the three-year Fellowship period, with an additional gratuity upon successful completion;
b.    Academic Development and Exchange Allowance for academic development and exchange activities during the Fellowship;
c.    Research Project Seed Funding to support the development and implementation of the Fellow’s research project;

d.    Proof-of-concept Funding, subject to the conditions set out in the Application Guidelines, to support the translation of promising research outcomes; and
e.    Capacity-building Programmes to strengthen Fellows’ translational capabilities and commercialisation readiness, while providing exposure to industry and innovation and technology ecosystems.
 

Beyond funding support, the Fellowship provides valuable opportunities for international and cross-cultural exchange, knowledge sharing and collaboration. Through these experiences, Fellows can broaden their professional networks and contribute knowledge and innovation in Hong Kong and beyond.
